Medicare Coverage Determinations - Pharmacy Technician

  • The primary role of the Pharmacy Technician is to review, deny or approve and communicate decisions for prior authorization pharmacy requests according to clinical guidelines
  • Partner with pharmacists to review coverage determination and render decisions based on clinical criteria
  • Evaluates and authorizes approval of prior authorization pharmacy requests from prescribers received by telephone and/or facsimile using client clinical criteria
  • Researches, resolves and documents prior authorization outcomes in the pharmacy system
  • Gain assistance, when needed, from Senior Technicians, the Senior Help Line and Leadership across all Med D Call Centers
  • Utilize various call center applications and resources to research and resolve member issues
  • Held to call center monthly metrics
  • Communicate decisions to physician, physician office staff, pharmacists and/or management staff

Job Requirements

  • Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician
  • Associate degree in Pharmaceutical Technology preferred
  • 4+ years of customer service experience required
  • Exemplary verbal communication and customer service skills
  • Must possess valid state certification
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environment
