Reports to (Position)     Controller

Duties / Outputs

  • Supports daily management of transactional accounting staff including training and assisting staff accountant/support staff with accounting/finance/reporting related issues
  • Coordinates North American (NA) Financial Shared Services insuring a successful transition as well as timely and accurate completion of assigned tasks
  • Effectively communicates HGS policies and procedures and monitors compliance to support Shared Service and other initiatives
  • Coordinates/maintains the NA Cash Flow Forecast Report including maintaining payment schedules for management review
  • Insures the integrity of the financial information provided for the US entities and NA consolidations
  • Prepares MIS Financial Statement Reports
  • Responsible for consolidations and monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting including the balance sheet and cash flows
  • Responsible for producing standard monthly reporting packages and providing supporting documentation for quarterly board of directors packages
  • Responsible for the monthly close process for the more complex areas and accounting tasks (journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis and addressing management inquiries)
  • As needed, support special projects, departmental improvement initiatives and certain FP&A responsibilities including budgeting, projections, various financial modeling and management reporting
  • Develop and enable new processes and existing process improvements across multiple functional areas. Determine the root cause of issues identified and propose process improvements with subsequent solution implementation.
  • Assist in preparing higher level, more complex ad-hoc reports and analysis.

Skills / knowledge


  • Demonstrated experience in accounting, specifically in monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes
  • Solid understanding of accounting concepts and processes (billing, financial recognition, account reconciliations, A/P and A/R activities)
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills while being detail orientated
  • Ability to identify and resolve accounting, reporting and other issues
  • Strong data mining skills with the ability to leverage large data bases for analysis
  • Hands on self-starter with a strong desire to promote and implement continuous improvement opportunities
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment and  meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills suitable for Senior Management presentations
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Energetic and ability to work in a team orientated environment
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • SAP experience a plus; ERP system experience required


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible work experience
